Social Media builds brands and SEO builds traffic
Written by Helmut Watterott
SEO is dead because people now buy into brands and reputation online! Social Media, Social based websites and APPs have taken over. Build your following on Twitter and Facebook a voila you are done… well...
The trouble is that although many people rightly jump onto the Social Media bandwagon they still forget the basics of their business. They also forget about good content, building the ‘right’ connection on Social Channels, building a strong brand that differentiates their business from the others.
Rule of thumb, just as it has always been, build a strong business with good products and services. Have good content on your website and the digital world is your oyster. The part that Social Media plays is that you have a platform and access to people who can ‘opt in’ as such to what you are communicating. And by communicating I mean advising, helping and creating helpful and valuable content.
If you rip people off or offer a poor service you reputation you build online can become poisoned and tainted by bad reviews and comments.
SEO still and most likely always will play the part of helping the person, who does not yet know you and is looking for a service, find you. Making sure your website is optimised so that you can be found for relevant search terms is still important. More and more Social Media posts and reputation adds to your chances of being found. Another reason to post relevant and useful posts on Social Media so that as many people as possible re-share it.
